One of the reasons people are so eager to "innovate" the educational system is because they get distracted by the shiny new toy - approach, buzz-word, technology, etc - and think with this one shift, everything will be different.

Nothing could be further from the truth, of course.  Innovation isn't shiny.  It's fuzzy.  It's messy.  It's unbalanced.  That's how you know you're doing it right.
